Sarah Evans, Ph.D.

Dr. Evans is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Medicine and Public Health at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Her research is focused on the impacts of early life environmental exposures on nervous system development and child behavior. Dr. Evans also leads a multidisciplinary team working to develop effective strategies for reporting back exposure data to study participants with the aim of empowering individuals to make informed, health-centered choices and activate community-level change. Through her work with the Mount Sinai Children’s Environmental Health Center (CEHC), Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Unit (PEHSU), New York State Children’s Environmental Health Centers (NYSCHECK), and the ConduITS Clinical and Translational Science Award program (CTSA), Dr. Evans translates complex environmental health research into action for patients, communities, and policymakers. She also co-leads the departmental Anti-Racism, Intersectionality, Diversity, and Equity (AIDE) Committee as well as the Black Child Health Working Group.
