Chantalle Durr, MPH

Chantalle Dur is a recent graduate of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she received her Master's in Public Health. With a background consisting of a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, 3 years working as a Clinical Research Coordinator in Columbia University’s Pathology department, and a Master’s degree in Public Health, she has always been interested in science and research, but also the ethics relating to health as a whole. She pursued her Public Health degree with a passion for ensuring equity in healthcare and decreasing/eliminating health disparities. She joined the Southeast Queens Environmental Justice partnership in March of 2023, and has helped the team by co-facilitating the 3 sessions for Youth Community Science Day with Luz Guel and Riana Mehreen, and has also attended the June Community Science Day, and looked up resources for future tasks in the project timeline like storytelling workshops. In the future, she sees herself connecting her interests in research, public health, and community advocacy. She believes promoting health equity and justice is essential for disseminating public health issues, and this can be done by community-based research where people are empowered to take their health into their own hands.
